Permanent colour placed in your lash line and around your lashes makes your eyes appear brighter, younger and more expressive. It’s perfect for active women, women in warmer climates, alopecia clients, and others who have a problem with makeup running and smearing. Permanent make-up is fantastic for those who wear contact lenses and can’t get makeup products in their eyes. Even men get permanent lash enhancement. The thicker the colour, the more it looks like applied eyeliner. So “lash enhancement” and “permanent eye-lining” are different degrees of the same process.
An eye treatment is a three–part process usually completed within two appointments.
The first part of the process is a consultation. This is usually done as part of your initial treatment but can be done separately if you’d prefer. We will talk with you in great length about the look you are wanting to achieve and what we might recommend for you. This is definitely a two-way conversation. We listen, respond and advise. When we have an idea of the look you are aiming for, we then draw the eyeliner on with a makeup pencil. This can be drawn on and adjusted up to 50 times if needed! We never begin the tattoo process until you are completely comfortable with what it is going to look like.
Using a special facial tattooing machine, which works at a much lower frequency than a standard tattoo machine, we will gently apply pigment to the eye area using very fine needles. The sensation is similar to that of an electric toothbrush being held against your skin – you feel the vibrations but you should not feel any discomfort. We will always work with you at this stage, giving you breaks if you when you feel you need one. The process generally takes approximately one – two hours but can vary from person to person depending on your individual requirements. After the treatment your eyes may be a bit puffy and sensitive.
Your healed result will tend to look a little darker in appearance initially. However, this will soften in a few days, the colour will lighten considerably. You will have to follow a simple aftercare routine which involves basic care of the area and apply a gentle balm. After a few days the colour will gradually settle and increase in a pleasing intensity over the next few weeks.
A second appointment is needed 4-6 weeks after your first treatment. This is normally a 60-minute appointment to add more pigment to the eye area if needed. This is because as the area is healing, some parts may not ‘hold’ as well as others and you may have a few patches that need more colour. This is completely normal, and everyone heals differently. Whatever the case, we recommend you always come back to our clinic for your retouch. touch up, aftercare pack, complimentary brow tidy 6-week post touch up treatment.
Many people will report that, when the notice someone for the first time, they see the eyes. The eyes are often an area that ages first and can age quickly, giving way to the appearances of sadness, droopiness, puffiness and hollowness. Although permanent makeup cannot repair aging eyes by taking away excess skin or wrinkles, it can improve the appearance of the eye. Several different types of approaches can be used for lining the eye: a straight and solid line on the upper and/or lower lid and lash line enhancement.
The traditional upper and lower tattoo of the eyelid involves placing pigment on the eyelid in a straight line. Some clients prefer the eyeliner to be wedged-wider at the outer one third to one half of the eye-and others like it domed, with the widest part over the iris.
